After a few (3 to be specific) months in Europe, testing products and doing A LOT of research, one could say that I have become quite well versed, or at least improved substantially my connoissance of organic European products. Although I went to quite a few countries, the one in which I found the largest amount of organic products was by far Italy  (I even got a chance to visit the super-sustainable hair and cosmetics brand Davines` headquarters in Parma …read

So here are a few of the brands that I came to know (and love):

Davines/Comfort Zone/skin regimen

Davines, Comfort Zone and Skin Regimen (both of Davines` cosmetics line) were the brands that I came to know the most because of my immersion in their headquarters and an intensive tour through the brands` labs and products. My suggestions, although they are for my type of hair (damaged and colored) and skin are the following:

Nounou line: for processed and brittle hair

MINU line: for colored hair

YHA line: for all care before using hair tools

Skin Regimen:

Wrinkles concentrate

Age defense moisturizer (finally an organic moisturizer that really cares for our age issues )

Night detox: an overnight mask to remove impurities

Neve cosmetics (Italy):

They`re famous for their lipsticks but their compact powder and concealer are from another world. The compact powder is super soft and has perfect coverage and the concealer is also very light and has amazing coverage. Magic, but they manage it.

Alkemilla (Italy)

They have a really large line of products, which includes skin care, hair care and makeup and are famous for their new age filler, which reduces bags under the eyes. But they have a huge array of eye shadows and lipsticks, all vegan, organic and cruelty free.

PuroBio Cosmetics (Italy)

Whatever you do, just get their liquid Bio foundation

Baciamibio (Italy)

Makeup line of the famous Italian Montaltobio skincare line. A very natural touch but very complete, with cream eyeliner, amazing lipstick colors, perfect matte liquid foundation and compact powder and eyeshadow.

Rilastil (Italy)

The only brand that is not organic on the list, but their liquid foundation with anti-aging agents really does wonders, because after all, I trust the Italians’ keenness on minimizing chemicals.

The Ordinary by Deciem (Canada)

Although it’s a Canadian brand, I came across this brand in Madrid since it has become super popular in Europe after a few store openings around the continent and sales points in some Douglas and Sephora stores. Their concept is using only a few products at once, to make it as natural as possible and therefore as strong on that one function as possible. Their Retinol Serum 0.5% in squalane (squalane is a hydrating oil) is one of the very few products without prescription that has a high concentration of retinol (which is great for lines and dark spots), their Buffet + Copper peptides are their best seller for anti aging effects and their AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution if used twice a week works just like a chemical peel. I also recommend trying their Caffeine Solution +EGCG for dark circles…I don’t have any dark circles myself but my boyfriend does and it really helped him out.

So basically, wherever in the World you are, switch to organic cosmetics!
